MPHinc. HERS Testing and Verification
HERS Verification Title 24, part 6

What is it: HERS stands for Home Energy Rating System. This process is a field verification and diagnostic testing service developed to
show compliance with the “California Building Energy Standards”.

Why it's important: A study conducted by National Comfort Institute shows that the average HVAC system is only performing at 58% efficiency. Don’t get lumped in with the national average. Prove the high quality and performance of your work with diagnostic testing.

Duct Leakage Testing

Costa Mesa - Orange County

Duct Leakage is measured by sealing off all of the supply duct outlets and attaching a fan to the return duct inlet. The fan is energized to pressurize all of the ductwork and the air handling equipment. At this point, we can measure the leakage at a given pressure.

Duct Leakage Testing - How it works

When installing a new HVAC system, or even altering an existing HVAC system, there is going to be some mandatory 3rd party HERS tests and verifications, such as Duct Leakage Testing.

HERS Verified Duct Leakage Testing and a registered Certificate of Field Verification (CF3R) is required to demonstrate compliance with the local Building Department.
