HERS Verification Title 24, part 6
HVAC Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Static Pressure Diagnostic Testing

Most buildings or homes have at least 1 room that has comfort issues (hot, cold, noisy, drafty). Maybe the issue is related to the energy bills….Using state of the art diagnostic testing equipment (and the laws of physics) we can identify performance issues and help find solutions for your comfort and efficiency.

In most standard HVAC duct systems, pressure is the enemy of airflow. If the pressure goes up, the airflow goes down (mutually exclusive). Whether you have an issue with total airflow or maybe just one room, static pressure diagnostics are the best way to find the source of the airflow issue.

What is it: HERS stands for Home Energy Rating System. This process is a field verification and diagnostic testing service developed to
show compliance with the “California Building Energy Standards”.

Why it's important: A study conducted by National Comfort Institute shows that the average HVAC system is only performing at 58% efficiency. Don’t get lumped in with the national average. Prove the high quality and performance of your work with diagnostic testing.

If you don’t test, you are just guessing!

MPHinc. has over 20 years experience providing these verifications and testing services to the single/multi family homes and construction communities.

There is a difference between HVAC “Equipment” issues and HVAC “System” issues. The equipment is all of the mechanical pieces. The “System” is the Equipment plus all of the duct and terminal pieces (plenums, boots, grilles & registers).
The quantity of air (heating or cooling) generated by the equipment may never make it to the conditioned space due to inefficiencies of the duct work. On the other side of the equation, the duct work may be fine and the Equipment may have issues generating the proper amount of air, heating or cooling.
Using all of the latest technology and methods, our highly trained staff can pinpoint if there are “Equipment” or “System” issues and complete a comparative analysis right down to the last BTU in Heating and Cooling modes.
